The third installment in “The Grump” series about the stubborn elderly Finnish farmer. This time, the titular character embarks on a quest to Germany to find a replacement for his beloved second-hand car, but also ends up confronting his past.
A film about healing old wounds. The Grump’s everyday life in the deepest of Finland rolls forward according to old routines. He’s busy working on his farm, but memories of his big brother Tarmo are bothering him. Tarmo moved to Germany decades ago, and they lost touch. One day the Grump crashes his beloved Escort, and the car is taken to the junkyard. But he is particular when it comes to cars; any old car won’t do. The nearest 1972 Escort is in Germany, which is where he soon heads. After being robbed, he wakes up in a hospital with Tarmo at his bedside. The brothers, who are polar opposites of one another, look for the Escort together. Little by little, after a number of disagreements, they start to get along. Both have experienced losses in life, and don’t want to lose each other again. How far are they willing to go to achieve the thing that makes life worth living?
